Can we give up the hectic and impossible challenge of keeping up with the latest Jones news, the latest must-read books, and the latest fads? May they collapse under their own weight, and I believe that the Kingdom of God is simply a place of sublime beauty where no unnecessary presence has ever entered our midst. May you stand in the simple grace of someone who has discovered this fundamental truth. Or thinking, it is only God’s emotions that govern.

From fairy tales to social norms, the idea that beauty is synonymous with youth permeates our culture. Marketers spend billions of dollars promoting “stories that encourage women to feel bad about themselves and spend untold amounts of money to feel better.” One researcher found that “women have internalized fears of aging due to a society that does not respect women’s aging…”. Fashion leaders, models, celebrities, and many others are speaking out and rejecting this narrative in order to “explore ways to approach aging with more self-compassion.” One actress said: “And truly, beauty comes from within, and there’s no need to play around.”
