An angel in overalls
This story was sent by Colleen. Colleen listened to me on Jim Harold’s Campfire Podcast as she told the story of my highly ghost home in Kansas City, Missouri. In that episode, I also mentioned real-life angels encountering podcasts, so Colleen quickly started listening and got hooked. She sent me her story, a very personal story.
“A little bit of a backstory that makes sense later. In the summer of 2010, I decided I wanted to find some denim bib overalls that I wore in the late ’80s or early ’90s, but before online shopping was on the rise, it was difficult to find a style in the store. I was able to convince my husband to stop.
“He was very motivated to make good times so we didn’t. During that year’s holiday, I, my husband and our youngest son were keeping an eye on overalls when we went to town, but I had never seen a pair.
“When the week was over, we were ready to go back to Illinois. My husband liked to start early on the day we got home, so I woke up at 4:30am and discovered that it was the morning.
“After we drove for a while, I started to have cramps. The cramps looked stronger than normal menstrual cramps and something didn’t feel right. I asked my husband to stop at the next gas station. We were still dark on the road, two lanes highway. And my son fell asleep in the back seat and I ran and found the toilet.
“The attendant behind the counter looked sleepy. I woke him up. I went into the women’s toilet. I was happy to see the clean bathroom with two food stalls and a proper sink area.
“I was shocked and scared. I wondered if I needed to get medical assistance or if it was a really heavy flow. I also wondered how to clean the floor. I didn’t want to leave any confusion for the next woman to find it. I changed and tried to clean the floor with wet paper towels.
“At that point, the woman’s voice asked, ‘Are you okay?” I was a little surprised to hear my voice.
“We went back together as much as possible, but I heard other bathroom residents leave her stall and walk to the sink. When I came out of the food stall, I saw a tall, curvy, tanned, very blonde woman standing next to the sink.
“I’m going to go out and wear clothes. I’ll clean the floor when I get back.” The woman looked at me in the mirror with a kind expression on her face and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll clean it.” I surprised her as well as her offer as she was split into two thick braids and wrapped around her head and pinned.
“Like I said, she looked very strong and muscular, and her skin swears it looked gold. Aside from her gorgeous hair and physique, you guessed it, that she was wearing, denim bib overalls.
“I tried to stare at my hands dry. ‘It’s so good for you,’ I said, ‘But you don’t need to do that.’ I had been working in the doctor’s office for years at that point, and I was well aware that people needed gloves, masks and protective eyewear to clean up other people’s blood.
“I used to work in a girl’s dorm, and there’s nothing I’ve never seen before.” I didn’t know what to say, I just smiled and replied, “Thanks, but I’ll be back soon.” I ran to the car, got my underwear and shorts from a huge dirty laundry bag, told my husband what was going on, then went back to the bathroom.
“When I opened the door, the bathroom was empty. When I opened the food stall, the floor was completely clean. I stopped by the truck and tried to understand how the woman had cleaned the bathroom and left.
“I noticed that there were some paper towels on the bottom that looked clean. How did the mysterious woman clean up that mess? I decided I needed to find her and thank her.
“When I came out again, my husband was waiting for me with a cup of coffee and I was grateful for it and asked if he saw where the tall blonde woman in overalls had gone because I needed to thank her.
“He looked at me and said my husband and I were the only people he’d seen at the gas station for a while. He saw me like I was crazy. So, Christie, my only conclusion is that I have a very tall, beautiful, blonde guardian angel.
“It’s a story I’ll never forget, and I’ll look back and see if I had an early miscarriage and she helped out with that.
“The fact that she mentioned working in a girl’s dorm has led me to speculate that she specialised in coming to the aid of women at various stages of miscarriage. Maybe she’s not my guardian angel and she’s been called to a certain situation.
“I’m glad I found a woman to share this story. Take care, Colleen.”
Angels come in many different forms, not just the enormous winged light, which we usually consider to be diversity. It also comes with a very ordinary package that displays. And, as Colleen said, perhaps some angels said, “Are you thinking of denim overalls? There’s an angel with denim overalls here, so you might be able to give a wink from the universe, as you know this visitor is really for you.
When you encounter something you cannot explain, you never know. “There are only two ways to live your life. One seems to be a miracle. The other seems to be everything.”
But what happens if you are an “angel” that appears when needed? Can you be guided to be in the right time and place for someone else?
