I wanted to remind you of the immense power of holding a field of love.
I was reminded of this today as I recalled an experience I had many years ago.
It was around midnight near downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Miles (my husband) and I were walking home from a show we had gone to.
Of course we arrived on a dark and particularly shadowy street…
when a group of three men approached us.
One of them was completely devastated.
He aggressively started talking trash and trying to get Miles to fight.
In fact, I remember him standing up in Miles’ face and pushing him with both hands and saying, “Fight me, fight me.”
Miles went on to say: “I don’t want to fight you, I don’t want to fight you.”
But the man didn’t stop and became more and more aggressive.
Suddenly, Miles’ tone changed. He spoke powerfully…and from the heart.
“I love you, brother. I don’t want to fight you. I love you.”
And with this…
The man stopped. He stumbled back, looked Miles in the eye, and said,
He hugged Miles, then turned and started walking down the street in the opposite direction.
