“Rakechi de” or “Rakechi de ala kin”
The Mayan tradition has a beautiful and wise greeting that I would like to share with you.

There are two interpretations of this phrase. The traditional interpretation is “I am you and you are me.” The modern translation is “I am another self, or you are another self.” Whichever translation you prefer, using this greeting is a way to show respect to the person or subject you are addressing.
Many cultures around the world have similar greetings. In India, Namaste is used. This means “I bow to you,” or more commonly, “The light in me honors the light in you.”
Mitakue Oyashin is a Lakota phrase with a very similar meaning. It is used in rituals and prayers and is translated as “we are all related.”
Origin of Inrakechi
The phrase Lak’ech Ala K’in comes from the Mayan understanding of humans, whom they called huiniril. Huinik’lil translates to “vibrant presence.”
I love that the Mayans seemed to inherently understand that we are all part of the vibrations of the universe. Saying the greeting Lak Ek Ala Kin is a sacred and ancient way of celebrating our collective existence.
declaration of unity
Regardless of your background or culture, it is appropriate to place your right hand over your chest when using the above greeting. You can also pray with your hands together.
The combination of the gesture and the meaning of the phrase “Lak’ech Ala K’in” is a graceful statement of oneness. It honors our connection as spiritual beings, spreads love, and increases energy levels each time we share it.
Lak’ech Ala K’in is more than just a greeting
Lak’ech Ala K’in is not only a great way to greet each other; You can also use it when you greet the sunrise, when you encounter beautiful nature, when you want to express your gratitude, when you meditate or practice spiritual practice, when you interact with pets or other animals, etc.
Your intention is to acknowledge and honor the understanding that we are all divine beings connected to Source.
Lak’ech Ala K’in can also be used as a silent blessing. It is not always appropriate or timely to verbally send loving energy to someone or something in need. Silently repeating “Lak’ech Ala K’in” in your mind is the perfect way to quietly and powerfully send energy to any being or object you desire. The power inherent in your intentions and language transcends barriers and resonates to the core of all of us.
