Of the many means of making progress towards spiritual awakening, meditation is one of the most powerful tools available on the spiritual path.
It is no coincidence that some form of meditation is found in most religious and spiritual practices, but ultimately, meditation does not retain any relation to one religion or ideology. It can be found in everything from ancient traditions to everyday modern activities.

Meditation works incrediblely in your health and happiness, providing powerful stress relief and spiritual growth, but sometimes combined with a busy mind can make meditation challenging and for some people it can make meditation challenging.
When meditation is combined with essential oils, much of the perception of meditation challenges or barriers is greatly possible if not completely reduced.
In fact, essential oils have been an important part of spiritual practice and meditation throughout history in cultures around the world. It has been revealed that essential oils were used in rituals and rituals of the Egyptian period, and even as early as 3500 BC!
In many cultures, essential oils were known to help bring awareness to a new level. This knowledge was then translated into oils used in important rituals, rituals and daily spiritual practices.
Before we get into the details of how to actually integrate essential oils into meditative practice, let’s take a quick look at some of my favorite oils for meditation. (It’s not a comprehensive list as there are so many, but these are some of my favorites and great places to get started!)
Seven essential oils for meditation
- frankincense: He is known and respected for his ability to evoke inner tranquility and promote inner strength and inspiration. Frankincense helps lift vibrations so that you can experience a deeper connection between spirit and the higher vibrational region. It also helps to release negativity and leads you back to the center.
- Lavender: One of the most versatile and famous essential oils, lavender is truly amazing at bringing peace and calm to a busy, stressful mind. Lavender also helps to bring about emotional balance, works to clean up negative energy, and promotes a deep sense of inner peace.
- peppermint: If you want to fall asleep every time you sit down to meditate… try Peppermint Essential Oil! Peppermint is simultaneously stimulating and calming. It can help raise awareness of your present moment and bring vitality by clearing stagnation. Peppermint is also incredibly cleaned up for the respiratory system and helps you focus comfortably on your breathing.

How can you use these essential oils in meditation?
Essential oils provide pure, high vibrations and help to transition energy into a state of meditation that is peaceful and rejuvenating.
There are several options to start using essential oils in meditation…
-
Apply to yourself with essential oils
Many essential oils (but not all) are safe and beneficial when used directly on the skin. Personally, I love rubbing a few drops of lavender in my third eye, or frankincense on my neck and chin before I start my meditation. It frays between your hands and a few drops of peppermint rubbing on the back of your neck, making it a great way to start your meditation practice by focusing on it.
A small variation of oiling yourself with oil is simply placing a few drops of essential oils between your palms, rub them together, then sucking in your hands in front of your hands, relax and start meditation.
-
Room diffusion essential oil
Aromatic diffusion of essential oils is another great way to enhance your spirit for meditation. The easiest way is to use a diffuser, but add a few drops of some essential oils to the hot water and breathe deeper into the scent (cover the bowl and head with a towel to enhance the effect).
-
Create essential oil drinks
Disclaimer! Most essential oils are not food grade and should never be consumed. However, young living essential oils are pure and therapeutic grade, some of them can be photographed internally as dietary supplements.
Add a few drops of Young Living Lemon or Peppermint Oil and is a great way to relax and start to raise the vibrations for meditation. The stress in Young Living, which I mentioned earlier, is great underwater and is a great way to quickly change your energy if you find yourself feeling stressed or want to ask for a little help in a relaxed, meditation state.
Personally, I combine all the above methods to concentrate my meditation, bringing the high vibration benefits of essential oils to everyday life. Adding a few drops of lavender and frankincense to the salt bath is something I really love, and it’s an example of the combination of anointing and diffusion that leads to a deep, relaxing meditation.
When purchasing essential oils, make sure they are of the highest quality and purity and are therapeutic grade essential oils.
You will also want to consult with your individual oil labels about the direction of use. As mentioned above, some young live oils can be ingested or applied directly. Others should always dilute the carrier oil or check the label using only fragrance.
