Over the past decade of my own personal growth and emotional healing journey, I have read a lot of books.
This shows me that reading can be a really powerful catalyst for change, emotional healing, and personal growth.
Reading the right book at the right time can truly change your life.
For this reason, I wanted to share with you some of the books that I feel have been most impactful in my healing journey.
Don’t worry if every book on this list doesn’t resonate with you right away. That’s totally fine. Instead, trust your instincts and find two or three titles that naturally catch your eye and pique your curiosity. Start there and let your intuition guide you.
“The Untethered Soul” by Michael A. Singer:
“Nothing is more important to true growth than recognizing that you are not the voice of your mind, but the listener of your heart.”
I love this book. This book takes you on a journey to unlock your inner potential by letting go of limiting thoughts and emotions. Singer offers practical advice on how to quiet the mind, find inner peace, and live a more fulfilling life.
“Happy Brain Habits: Retraining Your Brain to Increase Serotonin, Dopamine, Oxytocin, and Endorphin Levels” by Loretta Graziano Bruning, PhD:
“The four happiness hormones: Dopamine: the pleasure of finding what you’re looking for; Endorphins: the forgetfulness that masks pain; Oxytocin: the comfort of social solidarity; Serotonin: the security of social importance.”
In this book, I felt like I had finally received a guide to “how the human brain works.” In this book, Dr. Bruning explores the brain chemicals that lead to happiness and offers practical strategies to optimize our brain’s natural feel-good chemicals. By understanding the role of serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin, and endorphins, we can develop habits that promote a more positive, resilient mindset.
“The Power of the Subconscious Mind” by Joseph Murphy
“If we keep concepts like harmony, health, peace and goodwill in mind, great things will happen in our lives.”
this book A classic that explores the power of your subconscious mind and introduces techniques to harness it to bring about positive change in your life. Learn how to reprogram your mind for success, happiness, and health.
“Letting Go: The Path to Surrender” by David R. Hawkins:
“The bottom line is that by changing ourselves, we change the world. When we are more loving on the inside, the outside heals. Just as rising seas lift all boats, the spark of unconditional love in the human heart lifts all life.”
I love this book so much I made a video about it which you can watch here. Letting go is life-changing, as it overcomes obstacles and lets go of what is holding you back. Dr. Hawkins teaches that most negative emotions are due to repressed and denied feelings, and that releasing them through the process of surrender leads to greater peace and happiness. He uses practical techniques combined with an in-depth exploration of emotional development to facilitate personal transformation. In this book, you will learn about the different emotional states we experience, from apathy to love and enlightenment, categorized by Hawkins’ unique map of consciousness.
“Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy” by David D. Burns:
“Labeling yourself is not only self-defeating, it’s irrational. Your self is not equal to any one thing you do. Your life is a complex, ever-changing flow of thoughts, feelings, and actions. In other words, you are more like a river than a statue. Stop trying to define yourself with negative labels.”
This is one of those books. It was truly the right book at the right time. In this book, Burns provides practical techniques and exercises for identifying and addressing distorted thinking, such as all-or-nothing thinking, overgeneralization, and self-blame. Burns also offers strategies for improving self-esteem, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
“How to Work” by Dr. Nicole LePera:
“As we increase in our level of consciousness we see that we are not our ego’s stories. Thoughts occur to us. Thoughts don’t mean anything about who we are. Thoughts are simply our ego’s way of protecting our identity and protecting us from pain.”
In this book, Known as a “holistic psychologist,” Dr. Nicole LePera offers a practical framework for self-healing and personal growth. She guides you through the process of understanding your past, healing your present, and creating a more authentic and fulfilling future.
“You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay:
“In the infinity of my life,
Everything is perfect and complete,
I no longer choose to believe in old limitations and lack. I choose to begin to see myself now.
As the universe sees me, I am complete, whole, perfect.”
I read this book Early on in my awakening journey, she taught me how to explore the powerful mind-body connection. She offers affirmations and exercises for self-love, forgiveness, and healing, empowering me to take control of my emotional and physical health.
Byron Katie, “Love the Way You Are”

In loving what is, Byron Katie introduces “The Work,” a powerful method for challenging and transforming stressful thoughts and beliefs. Through four simple questions, you’ll learn how to find peace and clarity in any situation and live a more fulfilling life.
“Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life” by Wayne Dyer:
“Wisdom is knowing that you are nothing, love is knowing that you are everything, and between the two my life revolves.”
In this book Wayne Dyer translates the Tao Te Ching in his own personal development style, providing a kind of map for guiding your life by aligning your thoughts and actions with your true nature. This book is how I got to know the Tao Te Ching, and I was really moved when I read it.
From “The Power of Kabbalah” Rabbi Berg’s teachings:
“Love is a weapon of light that has the power to eradicate all darkness. That is the key. By offering love even to our enemies, we destroy their darkness and hatred…”
The Power of Kabbalah It is a transformational guide that condenses the ancient wisdom of Kabbalah into a practical, life-changing framework to help you enhance your healing and open the door to abundance, purpose, and true happiness.
“It Didn’t Start with You: How Inherited Family Trauma Shapes Us and How to End the Cycle” by Mark Wolin:
“As we are learning, a trauma-free life is almost impossible. Trauma does not rest after death, but rather continues to find fertile ground for resolution in the next generation of children. Fortunately, humans are resilient and can heal from most types of trauma, and this can happen at any point in our lives.”
this book It is a powerful access point that explores the concept of intergenerational trauma and resolves unresolved family issues. Its approach is unconventional and provides tools to break cycles of emotional pain. By understanding and healing our family histories, we can transform our own lives and build a better future for future generations.
“Peace at Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life” by Thich Nhat Hanh:
“Our senses are windows to the world, and sometimes a wind blows through them, disturbing everything inside us. Some of us keep our windows open all the time, allowing the sights and sounds of the world to invade, penetrate us, and expose our sad and troubled selves.”
I love that peace is with every step “And after reading everything by Thich Nhat Hanh, I found his teachings to be so beautiful and true. This book is a gentle introduction to mindfulness and its application to everyday life. In the most eloquent and beautiful way, Thich Nhat Hanh shares simple, yet profound practices for cultivating peace, presence, and joy in every moment.”
“Ancestral Medicine: Personal and Family Healing Rites” by Daniel Foore, Ph.D.
“When we make peace with our ancestors who suffered various persecutions or perpetrated violence and oppression, we repair our personal psyches and family histories, and by extension, the rifts in the psyche of humanity as a whole. This helps us move away from identifying with a victim/perpetrator consciousness and embody the beautiful and beneficial past. By transforming generations of family and cultural pain, we can count on the support of our loving ancestors to thrive in our mission and service in the world.”
Ancestral Medicine I explore the healing power of connecting with our ancestors and offer rituals for personal and family healing. By honoring and working with our ancestors, we can gain deeper wisdom and support for our own growth and transformation.
“Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: How to Lose Your Mind and Build a New One” by Dr. Joe Dispenza:

Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself Combining neuroscience and spirituality to provide a guide to rewiring your brain and creating lasting change, Joe Dispenza offers practical tools and exercises to help you break free from limiting patterns and create a new, empowered version of yourself.
Neville Goddard’s “Feelings are the Secret”:
“Pay attention to your moods and emotions, because there is an unbroken connection between your emotions and the visible world. Your body is an emotional filter and leaves an unmistakable imprint of your feelings.”
In this powerful book, Goddard explores the transformative power of our thoughts and emotions. He argues that by mastering our inner world, we can shape our outer reality and manifest our deepest desires. This book is a fascinating introduction to the law of attraction and the art of conscious creation.
