This is a noticeable change from previous times when people preferred tighter styles with more product because they looked prettier and lasted longer. “Everyone wants to grow their edge and hair now,” says Ordele.
2025 brought many creative styles. There were many requests for a look that combined cornrows and sew-ins. Freestyle cornrows were all over the feed. Even braids that mimic the look of straightened hair. But this year, “people are going to do a lot of hairstyles with their hair,” Ordell says. You can also look forward to getting your natural hair done into mini twists or sister locks, or adding kinky human hair extensions to increase the length.
However, that doesn’t mean abandoning the sophisticated look completely.
