My favorite week of the year is my birthday week. I have been shouting loudly about my birthday for years in advance, demanding different celebrations to be organized for my birthday, expecting special balloons depending on my age, and having fun when the whole family is not around. He wasn’t one of those people who was deeply and truly hurt. People in a 4 mile radius remember it as their “special day”. But I’ll admit that I get a little tickled with childlike excitement when the dates on the calendar switch towards a day of forced joy dedicated to me. It’s mental muscle memory. Because when I was little, the most exciting thing was knowing that my birthday was approaching and that day was coming soon. completely about you.
Of course it’s different now. Maybe I’ll manage to do something “totally for myself” at some point on November 28th, but mostly I’ll just stick to work (this is my busiest work time of the year). Perhaps if I had time, I would peruse Vestiaire, a platform for high-end second-hand clothing, to see if I could buy something else that just didn’t look right on me. (To be honest, this thing I loved so much has gone in a very bad direction since I took office. vintage post. I’ll give you an update soon, but it’s safe to say that 80% of my purchases so far have been a complete waste of money. )
Before we arrive on Thursday, I’d like to share with you my recent “Five Favorite Things.” boy Are there many participants this month? At least 4 out of 5 things made me feel (embarrassingly) joy. The remaining favorites, less popular kittens, still leave me quite satisfied with life.
Up until now, these favorite posts have been YouTube videos. Now that I’ve moved my blog to Substack, I have no plans to change that. You can read a little about each favorite by scrolling down the video screen, but for maximum energy and maximum enjoyment, click the play button and enjoy a cozy chat Please calm down.

One thing I can’t stop talking about is the Disney version of Jilly Cooper’s books. rivalwhich is probably the best of any TV. This deserves a whole other post, so I’ll touch on it, but in a nutshell, this piece is unapologetically outrageous, daring, sex-encrusted, and nostalgic, and I love it. It has some of the best acting I’ve seen in years. Danny Dyer (I know!) plays Actor Biscuit as Fred Fred, and Nafessa Williams (Cameron Cooke) is truly the bravest and most brilliant antidote to 1980s misogyny in the final scene. They even beat men at their own game.
Oh, I’m so excited to write about that – the costumes! music! At that garden party, we all did the “Birdie Song”! Lady in red! I haven’t enjoyed a TV show so thoroughly and thoroughly in years. If all I wanted to do was watch Aidan Turner smoke in the bath, drive angrily, or kneel naked in front of his wife, I’d go right back and watch it again. Don’t worry, I’ll be back with a more thorough list of my favorites.
To be honest, this isn’t a sexual renaissance at all, in fact, this woman is pretty feisty, uh. Paid Before she leaves, but that’s a small point.
Anyway, like I said last week, it’s not an end-of-term gift for Aunt Maud, who’s recovering from back surgery, or your child’s fourth-grade elementary school teacher. Because this is something that is “frowned” in many places. A great conversation starter!
It seems pedestrian to talk about boots after two Bonkfests, but I absolutely love these slouch leather boots from Arket. The soft leather and comfortable heel, while the pointed toe gives it a smart and sophisticated look. I bought it before I got hooked on it. rival But I just realized that they actually have a distinct 80’s vibe to them.
Watch the video to see it in action. can be found online here* – I’m wearing a UK6 and it fits true to size. Please note the width of your calf as there is no zipper.
More on TV, this time with Cate Blanchett, and the storyline will take a huge turn, so I won’t say much more because I don’t want to spoil it. I really hated the first three episodes of Disclaimer and almost gave up. please Stay with it until the end. Then everything will make sense.
Honestly, if you’ve seen this and I say “Kylie’s boobs,” you know exactly the scene that almost made me turn off everything. It was incredibly disgusting. But then definitely smart Thinking back from the last episode! Bravo. I’ve seen very mixed reviews on this, and I can only assume the bad reviews are coming from people who abandoned ship before the twist…
Last favorite: Aveeno’s Rich Oat Balm. At the time of writing, it costs £6.60 on Amazon (here*) And I can’t imagine it being much cheaper than this. This is no surprise given the product name, but it’s a rich balm that instantly soothes and soothes, yet feels just as powerful and long-lasting moisturizing as much more expensive types of face products. It’s a balm. The texture is lovely. It’s perfect for traveling as it doesn’t require a heavy pot. There’s definitely enough oil left on my skin, but the residue isn’t greasy. An intensive treatment perfect for dry winter skin.
Well, I’m going to start something new on TV. One hour every night, that’s the time allotted to us. Enjoy a TV dinner in front of the fireplace. This is something like 44…
