I don’t know if anyone else will call baby girla heartwarming film directed by Dutch actor Halina Reign. But hey, it made me feel good.
This is the story of Rory (Nicole Kidman), a powerful, married, middle-aged CEO and mother who, along with young stallion Samuel (Harris Dickenson), who happens to be her intern, discovers her secrets. choose to act out their sadomasochistic sexual fantasies. In other words, our heroine is a bad, bad baby. You moralists will be happy to know that she doesn’t get away with her crimes. She suffers from deep emotional conflict and the real threat of losing everything she holds dear.
But ha! she won’t die In fact, the film ends with an intimate close-up of a satisfied smile, but it’s post-coital and it’s hers.
I believe this is a small victory for modern cinema.
Think about the endings of other movies about bold women who take risks for what they want, whether it’s their appearance, their sexuality, or their career. Most recently, materialWidely touted as a cynical feminist tale that mocks the debilitating limits of Hollywood beauty culture, the film murders its heroine (Demi Moore) in the most gruesome and punitive of ways. (Here’s more of what I have to say about that.) Or what about a highly respected conductor (Cate Blanchett)? tar Who slowly loses his mind due to various embezzlements before being forced to conduct a humiliating motley orchestra of cosplayers?
As we see Samuel intrude more and more into Rory’s life, it becomes clear that he is a predator, which fits well into Rory’s submissive fantasies. This guy is sexy, pretty weird, and reveals various clues about the potential effects of his dark sexual powers. For example, he wears a gold necklace and looks kind of “street” under his suit. Even more surprising, on his ripped side is a tattoo of a black-hooded angel who appears to be brandishing a rifle (rather than a traditional bow and arrow). In various rooms in the hotel, Rory will stand in a corner against a wall, get down on all fours, or drink milk from a saucer on the floor upon request. Am I the only one? It seems kind of tame in the world of BDSM. . But for Rory, who is used to being the boss girl, it means the loss of her irresistible arousal. When things get sour between the two, the camera almost always shows a portrait of Laurie’s face, blurring what Samuel is trying to do to her into the background. (Would you be able to convincingly act like you’re having a volcanic orgasm while the camera is focused on your face? Kidman was the only one in that scene. But I think it deserves an Oscar.)
