Laura Mercier recently gave her make-up a major makeover with her Caviar collection. Lipsticks, lip liners, cream shadow sticks and mascaras have been completely redesigned with new formulations, colors and packaging. I received all the announcements at PR and have been trying out the items for the past few weeks. I’ll include my thoughts on each new product below, along with all the swatches.
Caviar stick eyeshadow (new formulation)
i am a long time fan laura mercier caviar stick eyeshadow ($33 each), my top three shades are rose gold, copper, and cocoa. They have actually improved the formula for smoother application and better pigment. I like that it doesn’t dry out quickly. It has plenty of time to blend before setting, but once it sets, it won’t budge.
Many shades have noticeably improved finishes and color effects. Some of the shades in the original formula, like Strapless, were barely visible on me. Other more shimmery shades like Sugar Frost and Metallic Taupe had a smoother texture, whereas the glitter felt a bit chunkier.
There are several darker shades such as Smoky Quartz, Nuit, and Celestial Noir that are applied in patches, but they can also be layered for a smoother application. A little bit of layering and blending is required.
It’s a shame that Copper has been discontinued. bobbi brown golden amber Similar.
caviar extravagant mascara
new caviar extravagant mascara ($29) is a hit for me. I’m not sure if I’d call it a must-have or a favorite for my super straight, sparse lashes, but I think it’s a great formula. It contours and lengthens your hair without creating clumps. The brush does an excellent job of coating the entire lash. I wish it had more volume, but it didn’t smudge or clump and did a pretty good job of holding my curls. I feel like I have the saddest eyelashes in the world (even my dog Ollie has better eyelashes than me, and my husband has great lashes), so what works for me? I think it’s likely to be good lashes for most people if you have them.
caviar smoothing matte refill lipstick
I love a good lipstick launch, especially one with beautiful packaging. unfortunately, caviar smoothing matte refill lipstick ($45) was disappointing for me. Pros include beautiful and luxurious packaging, smooth swatching, opaque and rich color effects, and lots of bold colors. Unfortunately, it didn’t look very good on my lips. I haven’t tried all the colors, but I swiped 6 colors and they all were very drying on my lips. I think it would look better if I dabbed it on as a stain, but it looks very drying on its own. I loved this pigment. Just one swipe and you’ll get a great result. Unfortunately, neutral colors don’t suit my undertone. I feel like none of the neutral shades suit my olive, medium tan skin. I was so disappointed because I’ve seen it applied in other videos, but it was really nice. Bold shades have better undertones but I never wear them because they are so bold.
These also have a heavy floral rose scent that is almost soapy. The scent does disappear after a few minutes of application, but it’s a scent that my nose doesn’t like.
of caviar lipstick Too bad for me, but if you like matte finishes and find it hard to find enough cool-toned shades, check these out. Neutral lips, my personal favorite, can look orange on people with fair or cool-toned skin. This range has a lot of cool undertones.
caviar perfecting lip liner
Let’s take a look at the end. caviar perfecting lip liner ($29). Girls, I know I’m pretty cruel when it comes to lip liner reviews, but I’d like to add a disclaimer, mainly because my lips are on the more pigmented side, and 99% of Most of the viral neutrals that look great on you simply don’t show up. myself.
I think the new formula is a very nice classic type of lip pencil. No fuss, no flash, great tone, great pigment. It feels a little drying when I apply it to my lips, but I really liked it because it adheres well to my lips and leaves a relatively smooth finish. The staying power is very good. It’s not the best, but I like the color. If you want to try something new, I think it’s worth checking out as there are a lot of great tones.
Overall, I’m very happy that the reformulated Caviar Stick Eyeshadow is still a solid A+ formula. I plan on bringing some of these with me on my next trip. The mascara is also a solid A formula. I like the tone and formula of the lip pencil, but I think there are better formulas out there like the new Glossier Lip Pencil, Chanel, Pat McGrath, and Huda Beauty, to name a few. For me, I miss lipstick because of the color and scent. Also, I don’t tend to like matte finishes in general, so I might have been a little biased anyway.
