My 5-Step Body-Care Routine for Body Acne and Discoloration

I’m always complimented on my beautiful skin (not that I’m proud of it), but many people don’t know that I actually suffer from clogged pores, blackheads, and age spots. They just aren’t what’s on my face. I’ve struggled with ingrown hairs, body acne, and skin conditions for as long as I can remember, and I’ve spent most of my life trying to find ways to clear up my skin.

After over 20 years of trying intensive body cleansers, masks, at-home treatments, and quite a few therapy sessions to curb my skin-picking habit, I’ve finally found a body care routine that works for me. . Years have passed and my skin from the neck down is better than ever.

Do you need guidance to get rid of body acne, ingrown hairs, and the blackheads they leave behind? You’ve come to the right girl. I’ll show you all the steps and tips I use in my body care routine to prevent bumps and discoloration.

Step 1: Purification

Everyone agrees that showering is essential for daily hygiene, but to keep your pores clean, it’s important to take a shower every day (or even twice during hot, sweaty seasons). ) is essential. My skin is prone to clogged pores, so the order in which I shower is important to avoid breakouts on my shoulders, back, and thighs.

Before washing your body, first shampoo and condition. Because these products are not developed for the skin, lindsay zubritskyAccording to M.D., a board-certified dermatologist in Pittsburgh, water runoff from hair products can clog pores and cause breakouts. “It’s important not to wash your face or body skin before you’ve finished washing your hair,” she previously said. allure. After washing out the conditioner, trim your hair (this is a tip I learned) This Kylie Jenner interview) and use a body wash that contains some kind of chemical exfoliant that contains antioxidants to unclog pores and even out post-acne blackheads.

My usual destination is Necessea’s The Body Washthe benefits of exfoliating acids derived from fruit and botanical oils rich in antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E. The oils in The Body Wash also contain moisturizing fatty acids, so your skin won’t be left dry after your shower. It’s more like an intensive body cleanser and its scent makes my bathroom smell like a boutique perfume (my favorite is Santal). Lather it up with a mesh towel and apply it to your skin. This intensively scrubs the skin and removes flaky areas of the skin. One of my favorites is; Hanni’s The Shower ScarfIt’s extra long so you can easily scrub hard-to-reach areas like the middle of your back.

Step 2: Exfoliate

I don’t usually use a body scrub every day because most of the physical polishing needed to get rid of dandruff on my skin can be done with a washcloth. But sometimes I intention Lather up First Aid Beauty’s KP Bump Eraser body scrub. This has a powerful formula with 10 percent alpha hydroxy acids and a gritty texture that doubles up on all the clogged pores, ingrown hairs, and keratosis pilaris along my body. This means business, so I usually use this scrub once a week on problem areas like my upper arms and back, and on rough areas of my skin after cleansing.

Step 3: Toner or treatment

When you get out of the shower, wrap your hair in a microfiber towel to keep the runoff away from your skin, and depending on your body care stash, apply some type of additional exfoliating treatment. What I’m using now is Skin Medica’s even and correct brightening treatment padAlthough it’s technically made for the face, the 10 percent glycolic acid formula is great for dealing with whiteheads and ingrown hairs on my body.

I’m also a fan of fur roll-ons. Buried Eliminator Serumanother alpha hydroxy acid formula that tackles dark spots quickly and effectively. I usually switch between these two as a day-toning treatment for problem areas. This depends on which of the products you have found first.

Step 4: Lotion

I’m sure you’ve noticed by now, a lot Applying intensive exfoliants to your body can be extremely drying. To make sure my skin gets the moisture it needs to stay smooth and supple, I apply a few pumps of an unscented body lotion made for sensitive skin. my favorite is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Body Lotiona gentle moisturizer spiked with colloidal oatmeal to soothe redness and inflammation.

However, I recently ran out of my usual bottle, so I decided to give it a try. Alastin Skin Care Transform Body TreatmentThe moisturizing ingredients (hyaluronic acid!) and velvety gel-like texture leave your skin feeling hydrated and silky smooth. I apply this almost everywhere from the neck down, and it also treats chronically rough areas on my toes perfectly and gently.

Step 5: Waxing

Now, this is an option, but but This is definitely the biggest step that has drastically changed the texture of my skin. The main reason is due to the fact that shaving always causes ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Wax strips are gentler on the skin than razors, they stretch much longer than shaving, and after years of trying different formulas, I allure Best of Beauty Award Winner flamingo body wax kit To be the most gentle on the skin. The strips are easy to remove, and the wax itself adheres to each strand of hair and doesn’t strip parts of your skin like other waxes do.

When I pull out the flamingo strips, I’m not going to give myself a full Brazilian wax. Delicate areas are left to professional wax technicians. But I do use it on my legs and armpits. I wax about once a month to give my hair enough time to grow and for the wax to stick well to each hair. The growth period all depends on the rate at which body hair grows naturally. Esthetician Hannah Naranjo previously said, “Hair length should be between 8 inches and a quarter inch.” allure. Naranjo also recommends cleaning your skin before applying wax, as sweat, oil, and product buildup can make it difficult for wax to adhere to your hair.
