I have tried other products from Merit and their latest lip launch is beautiful! They have launched a lightweight matte lipstick called. signature lip blush ($28 each; sephora and merit). A sheer, minimalist lip product with a faded matte finish. As described, the formula is very lightweight but still manages to maintain a nice feel.
They started Archival on set while on vacation (reviewed here and see it in action) here) and recently added seven more shades to its lineup.
I tried two: PR Andie, which is the prettiest baby pink, and Vendome, which is a beautiful beige tan. I really like both colors and think they’re perfect for everyday wear. I also still really like Archival, which is quite mauve, which is cool-toned but not so cool-toned that it looks blue. We combined each lip look Benefits Flash Balm Cream At Le Bonbon.
Also worn:
However, there are also some drawbacks. These lipsticks are not suitable for people who prefer color effects and long wear. The pigment in the shade I tried is on the sheer side and can be swiped and layered for more coverage, but it’s still very sheer. It’s similar to stained lip stain, but thinner. I haven’t tried it over a lip liner, but the staying power isn’t for me. I think this is due to their calm nature. It’s not a huge issue for me, but I thought I’d mention it because I know a lot of people want something that’s super long-wearing and only needs touch-ups once or twice throughout the day.
For matte lips, I really like the colors I tried, but I tend to prefer something with more coverage. I think it’s very comfortable and easy to wear. I also like that it’s a little hydrating in the sense that it doesn’t dry out my lips.
