During the summer, many of us crave a radiant, healthy glow (whether we’re in a sunny spot or not). The best way to ensure your skin is healthy and glowing is to focus on an inside-out approach: eat lots of fresh, skin-friendly, seasonal foods (check out my book, Eat Beautiful, for recipe ideas), get plenty of sleep, and drink 2 liters of water a day. Luckily, there’s a trick! With the right makeup products, you can instantly brighten your skin and achieve the glowing look you’re longing for. If you’re looking for makeup for glowing skin, here are 5 must-haves.

1. Lighting primer
The key to glowing skin starts with a good base. A radiant primer not only helps your makeup last longer, it also gives your skin a subtle glow. Look for a primer that’s infused with light-reflecting particles or pearlescent pigments. These formulas create a soft-focus effect, blurring imperfections and giving skin a natural-looking glow.
Tips: After moisturizing and before foundation, apply a thin layer of Illuminating Primer all over your face. For an extra glow, mix a small amount into your foundation or focus on the high points of your face as a highlighter.
Try it: Yves Saint Laurent | Touché Eclat Blur Primer
2. Highlighter
Our versatile liquid or cream highlighters are game changers for a fresh, radiant look. Choose a sheer tone that suits everyone, or a warm bronze or cool copper to suit any skin tone.
Tips: For an all-over glow, mix a few drops of liquid highlighter into your foundation. Or, for a more targeted glow, apply directly to the high points of your face like your cheekbones, bridge of the nose and Cupid’s bow. You can also apply a small amount to your collarbone and shoulders for a unified, radiant look.
What to try: PAT MCGRATH LABS | Skin Fetish: Highlighter + Balm Duo

3. Cream blush
While powder blushes have their place in some situations, cream blushes are the better choice for a radiant makeup look. They blend seamlessly into the skin to create a dewy, radiant finish.
Tips: Choose a shade that matches your skin tone and apply to your cheekbones, blending outwards. For an extra glow, choose a cream blush with a subtle shimmer or satin finish.
Must try: Charlotte Tilbury | Beauty Light Wand

4. Glowing Setting Spray
A hydrating setting spray is a dual-purpose product that not only sets your makeup in place but also gives skin a beautiful glow: Look for formulas that contain hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and glycerin, as well as light-reflecting particles.
Tips: Once you’re done with your makeup, spritz on a setting spray to set your makeup in place and add a final touch of glow, or use it during the day to refresh your makeup, boost radiance or just keep you cool when it’s hot.
Try it: 111SKIN | All-Day Radiance Face Mist
5. Lip gloss
Glossy lips are a great contributor to overall glow, and a moisturizing lip gloss or tinted lip oil can add volume to your lips and complement your radiant skin.
Tips: Choose a shade that complements your natural lip colour, or layer a clear gloss over your favourite lip liner. Apply to the centre of your lips and blend outwards for a light-catching, plumping effect.
