I used to be standing in line for two hours Mona Lisa. Now, I am not an art expert, but after waiting for what felt forever in the busy room of Louvre, the painting hugged my attention within a minute. But what impressed me was the gorgeous gold frame.

Sometimes the frames are just as interesting as the artwork itself. This sentiment is captured by the latest trends that dominate social feed: frame nails. They are nails that, as the name suggests, feature thin molds or silver-adored lines painted along the perimeter. “Can be dain”, “soft”, “sophisticated” are several words StrategiesNew York-based nail artists use it to describe the design.
Usually, only one or two accent nails are surrounded by nail polish, but of course, you can give an overview of all 10 if you like. Kathleen TapanNew York City-based nail artists prefer simpler nail polishes that combine wavy gold frames with soft neutral, sheer pink or pastel polish. “The clean, simple shades of gold and silver add a sophisticated, gem-like finish that turns your nails into elegant mini pieces,” she says. The simplicity of the design makes it versatile enough to wear with other nail art, such as French tips, marble swirls, flowers, watercolor textures, aura fades, and more.
Like many of today’s trends, this look is not new. Proie says she first saw “about 10 years ago” in Asia. Tapanes said the recent popularity is probably due to everyone’s fixation on chrome and metallic finishes.
If you want to recreate this look at home, you’ll want to get some things like gel nail polish, matte gel top coat, non-wipe gel top coat, LED lamp and more. (Ploy recommends using gel formula for clearer and longer lasting results.) You also need chrome powder and a fine line brush.
