There’s nothing like party season to learn how to apply makeup from the back of a taxi or bus. Make your life easier by investing in products that can instantly change your look without too many tools. Eyeshadow sticks are the ultimate “lazy girl” must-have, allowing you to achieve maximum color with minimum effort. So what are the best things to buy for party season and beyond? Here are some of my favorites.

Important tips about shadow sticks
prepare the eyelids
Make sure your eyelids are clean and dry before applying the eyeshadow stick. For better color effect and longevity, consider using an eyeshadow primer first or applying a thin layer of concealer to your eyelids.
Direct application
Eyeshadow pencils are designed with ease of use in mind. Simply swipe the pencil directly onto your eyelid, moving from the inner corner to the outer corner of your eye. Depending on the desired look, it can be applied all over the eyelid or just along the eyelash line.
blend
Blend the color with your fingertips and the warmth of your fingers will melt it into your skin, creating an even finish.
layering
If you want a more statement look, consider using a two-tone eyeshadow pencil. First, apply a lighter color all over your eyelids, then apply a darker color to the outer corners of your eyes and blend inwards. This technique adds dimension to the eyes.
line it
Eyeshadow pencils can also be used as eyeliners. After applying your base color, you can use a darker pencil along your lash line to make your eyes stand out even more.
final touches
After applying and blending your eyeshadow pencil, complete your eye makeup with mascara and highlight your lashes to draw attention to your eyes. This final step ties everything together and improves the overall look. However, mascara is harder to apply on the go than an eyeshadow stick, so we recommend reapplying it in the bathroom when you arrive.
