“espresso” Chocolate is pretty much the theme song of summer, so when I heard that songstress Sabrina Carpenter was releasing a new fragrance (her collection already includes vanilla-scented Sweet Tooth and amber-and-almond Caramel Dream), the first thing that came to mind was… chocolate. Espresso aroma The scent, of course. And my expectations weren’t far off.
Pop star Carpenter recently launched Cherry Baby, a vibrant new fragrance housed in a chocolate bar-shaped bottle. Rather than your typical fruity scent, the inside has chocolate and brown sugar notes blended with juice. In a press release, Carpenter said she wanted the scent to be “unexpected, yet luxurious and sophisticated, playful and provocative.” And she was right.
charm The editors are familiar with other cherry-flavored perfumes on the market and Cherry Baby is a true gem among some of them. Tom Ford’s Lost Cherrylaunched in 2018 and kicked off a trend. But the big (really!) difference is that Carpenter’s is one-fifth the price, at $55 (if you add the Tom Ford one to your cart, it’s about $405).
Personally, upon first spray, I found Cherry Baby to be a little too sweet for my floral nose. As the fragrance dried on the skin, the sugary sweetness faded and it turned into a more fruity scent. However, it wasn’t cherries that I smelled. Instead, it resembled the scent of freshly baked apple pie. Kayali Eden Juicy Appleis one of my favorites.
As it turns out, I was right (pardon the pun). Cherry is definitely in the mix. Apple and plum, as well as peony and vanilla.
